The clock ticks as an alarm rings,
The sun rises as the sparrow sings.
We live our lives from day to day,
With hate and anger in the way.
The clock ticks as a child dies,
In the street his body lies.
In his hand there is a gun,
No longer will he see the sun.
The clock ticks as a bomb explodes
While the terrorist reloads.
He brought his war to our streets,
How I pray we never meet.
The clock ticks as a young girl screams,
Her mother says it must be dreams.
But the nightmare is not in her head,
The nightmare is in her bed.
The Clock ticks as a plane crashes,
Flames rage scattering ashes.
The buildings crumble from the sky,
As we stand in horror asking why.
The Clock ticks as time slips by,
And we grow old as we try.
To live our lives in this place,
With all of the adversities that we face.
